Laboratory Technician Job in BW Offshore

BW Offshore is looking to recruit three Laboratory Technician to support Catcher FPSO.The position will be located in the North Sea.

Key tasks and responsibilities

Operate the laboratory equipment and instruments;
Perform sampling and analyses of crude oil, produced and injected water, cargo, relevant utility liquids and gases as per ASTM standards;
Operate the Jiskoot sampler during offloading operations;
Assist Operations Technicians to optimize the use of chemicals;
Operate and monitor chemical injection systems in conjunction with the Operations Technicians;
Assist in landing and decanting chemical tanks;
Prepare calibration standard solution;
Perform adjustments and calibration of laboratory equipment;
Arrange for onshore repair and calibration of instruments as necessary;
Ensure there is a sufficient stock of laboratory consumables;.
Carry out housekeeping in the lab and lab store. Carry out laboratory waste collection, segregation and
processing;
Ensure that all sample points are in a safe operational condition and that they are kept clean;
Prepare the daily lab report and maintain appropriate documentation;
Preparation of shift and end of trip handovers;
Responsible for ensuring that relevant requirements of the Safety and Environmental Management
System (SEMS) are used as the term of reference for activities controlled by him/her;
Maintain a good working environment in all working areas and ensure good housekeeping and safe
working conditions;
Prioritize workload to ensure safety critical backlog is kept to a minimum;
Prepare required reports;
Liaise with other departments for coordination of activities;
Assist in meeting department objectives;
Use IFS Maintenance Management System to generate work orders, update records etc. ;
Use the Permit To Work system, prepare permits. Adhere to Permit To Work requirements;
Ensure that vendors and contractors are manged safely and effectively;
Undertake training both on and offshore relevant to the position;
Perform on the job training for newly started colleagues and trainees as required;
Participate in the emergency peparedness drills, the safety meetings, and on the job training;
Member of the Emergency Response Team;
Assist in any other work as directed by Department Head.

The holder of this position has the necessary authorities to carry out the responsibilities stated above
Qualification requirements Education

Qualified as a Production Chemist is essential

Experience

Ideally 2 years’ experience on an offshore process plant or 3 years’ experience in an onshore process
plant in a similar role
Offshore UK and FPSO experience is desirable
Previous work in a multinational environment is desirable
